Call for empty houses to be used as social housing

The Liberal Democrat group at City Hall has unveiled radical plans to increase the social housing stock in Norwich. Under the scheme, the council would investigate buying up empty houses for use as social housing. The plans will go before council next Tuesday.

The news comes just days after it was revealed that the City Council would not be applying to the government's scheme allowing free swimming for the under 16s and over 60s.

Freight lorries to start using bus/cycle Lane

Following the decision earlier in the year to allow lorries from the Freight Consolidation Depot at Snetterton to use the Newmarket Road bus/cycle lane, new signs have been erected today and it is envisaged the 12 month experiment will start immediately.
